In week 2&3 Kanuka made beanies with the year sixes from Kahikitea we got a choice of blue, black and orange polar fleece. We are going to use them when we go down to camp at Lake Tekapo when we are skiing.
This is how we made them
First we had to measure our heads then half the number and then we needed to add 1.5cm onto it
Then we had to rule on an A3 three piece of paper the number you had, write across the smaller side of paper. Then we had to rule 40cm the along the other side. After that we had to cut out the pice of paper.
Afterwards Mrs Corbett and Mrs Digby helped us cut out some fabric the same size as the piece of paper. and pin it to the piece of paper
Then Mrs Corbett asked us if we wanted tassels or not. If they chose no tassels Mrs Corbett sewed it every edge except one then she folded the edge that was not sewed back about three centimetres. Then it was finished.
If they chose tassels Mrs Corbett only sewed two edges. Then we cut along the top of the fabric about two centimetres wide for each square.
This is the finished product
On the 22nd of may a selected team from the year 5's & 6's went to the A&P show grounds for a rippa rugby competition the winners from that go down up to hallswall quarry. There were eight teams the Wakanui team got sixth.
